Lasertex HPI-3D laser interferometer

The Lasertex HPI-3D is a laser interferometer for calibrating CNC machines and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and for accurate linear measurements. It measures dynamically in three degrees of freedom at once (3DOF), with a resolution of 100 picometres and speeds up to ±7 m/s. Installation is quick and easy, and the HPI software produces reports to ISO 230-2 and VDI/DGQ 3441 and generates compensation tables for the control.

Why calibrate CNC machines?

The encoder passes the position of spindle, tool and table to the control; the accuracy of the machine depends on it. Wear reduces that accuracy over time. Regular calibration with a laser interferometer reveals deviations early, ensures accurate positioning, and results in less waste and fewer rejects. Unlike mechanical measuring tools, an interferometer has no parts that wear.

BRAND TS and Lasertex

As an authorised Lasertex partner we supply the HPI-3D, with Dutch-language support, installation and training, and calibration and maintenance. Would you rather have us measure the machine? Our measurement service also calibrates machine tools on site.

Features

Resolution of 100 picometres

A combination of heterodyne and homodyne optics gives 100 pm (single pass) and 50 pm (double pass), with sub-nanometre linearity, at any speed.

3DOF in one measurement

Measures the position of the retroreflector in three directions at once: so with simple linear optics you can also estimate straightness, squareness and parallelism.

High speed

Up to ±7 m/s as standard, optionally up to ±20 m/s; 100,000 samples per second.

Measuring vibration

Via USB, vibration up to 100 kHz, with a resolution down to picometres.

Aligned quickly

The position indicator in the laser head shows pitch and yaw; this greatly reduces set-up time.

Wireless environmental sensors

Temperature, air pressure and humidity, maintenance-free; automatic compensation 100,000 times per second.

Compact and portable

Self-contained laser head, magnetic base, in a sturdy case; the system weighs less than 10 kg.

User-friendly software

Measuring and analysis in one program; free updates, for life.

Also as a laser encoder

Configurable encoder output (digital and analogue, up to 25 MHz) as a replacement for magnetic or glass scales.

Open protocol

Drivers and API available, and a configurable digital I/O port.

Applications

Positioning of CNC and measuring machines

Linear positioning error per axis, repeatability, speed and acceleration.

Geometry

Straightness, flatness, squareness, parallelism of axes and small angles.

Angular positioning

With the Wally rotary encoder, also for rotary axes.

Vibration and dynamics

Vibration measurements and dynamic measurements with internal or external stroboscope.

Service and maintenance

Inspection of machine geometry, checking of ball screws and encoders.

Research and development

Laboratory applications and tuning thermal compensation.
