EPOCAST 36 pourable chocking compound

EPOCAST 36® is a two-component, pourable chocking compound with excellent physical properties. It replaces traditional steel chocks when mounting main and auxiliary engines, gearboxes, steering gear, thrust bearings, stern tubes and rudder trunks. The poured chocks fill any reasonable unevenness between machine and foundation, and dampen noise and vibration. EPOCAST has been used for more than 40 years, on cruise ships, bulk carriers, LPG and LNG tankers and naval vessels, among others.

Features

Simple and cost-effective

Easy to apply, and a cost-effective alternative to steel chocks.

No machining of the foundation

Compensates for unevenness and distortion of the foundation.

Thick chocks

Up to 100 mm in one homogeneous pour, depending on environment and temperature.

Strong

High compressive and impact strength; virtually all lines of force go to the foundation.

Resistant to seawater and chemicals

And prevents crevice corrosion.

Less noise and vibration

Noise reduction of 5 – 7 dB, depending on the installation.

Weight saving

Lighter than steel chocks.

Adjustable viscosity

By pre-heating the resin, to suit the ambient temperature.

Applications

Main and auxiliary engines

Gearboxes

Steering gear and thrust bearings

Stern tubes and rudder trunks

Newbuild and retrofit

Shorter and simpler installations than with traditional metal chocks.
